Introduction to Citizen Journalism

Introduction

Citizen Journalism: A Global Syllabus Module

In an increasingly interconnected world, the way we consume and create news has undergone a profound transformation. Traditional media outlets, while still vital, are no longer the sole gatekeepers of information. The rise of digital technologies, particularly the internet and mobile devices, has empowered ordinary citizens to play an active role in reporting, analysing, and disseminating news. This phenomenon is known as citizen journalism.

This module aims to introduce students to the concept of citizen journalism, exploring its definitions, historical context, key characteristics, benefits, challenges, and its impact on contemporary society and traditional media. By understanding citizen journalism, students will develop critical media literacy skills, enabling them to navigate the complex information landscape and become informed and responsible participants in the global dialogue.

What is Citizen Journalism?

What is soul?

Soul is creative intelligence, connected to its source with its outer expression regarded as attention.
